Buick has released the second from a total of four teaser shots that will uncover the new 2013 Encore small crossover ahead of its world premiere at next month's Detroit Motor Show. The two teasers confirm our suspicions that the Encore is based on a similar model being prepared by Opel and which our spy shooters caught testing in Europe earlier this year.
Both the Buick Encore and its yet to be named Opel sibling will utilize a modified version of the Sonic/Spark's Gamma II platform, which will also provide the base for the next generation of Opel's Corsa supermini.
While technical details remain slim on either model, buyers should expect 1.4-liter and possibly 1.6-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder gasoline units as well as a choice of turbo diesel engines for the Opel variant in Europe.
