America might not be getting the new Chevrolet Trailblazer but Australia will as parent company General Motors revealed that it's body-on-frame SUV will be sold Down Under as the Holden Colorado SUV.

The passenger version of the Colorado pickup truck, which is set to arrive in Australian dealerships mid-year, will be the first heavy-duty 4WD SUV to wear a Holden badge in almost a decade.

“Australians are buying more SUVs than ever before, and we’ve seen this demand reflected in the growing popularity of our Series II Captiva range,” said John Elsworth, Holden marketing director.

“Developed to deliver everything Australians could want from a tough 4WD, with coil-sprung five-link rear suspension and a competitive 3-tonne towing capacity, the Colorado 7 will be an impressive addition to our SUV line-up," he added.

Holden has not yet said with what kind of engines the Colorado SUV will be offered in Australia. In Thailand, where the Chevrolet Trailblazer will make its world premiere next week, it will launch with a pair of four-cylinder turbo diesels.
