MINI Launches Baker Street and Bayswater Specials in Honor of the London 2012 Olympic Games

As an official sponsor of the London 2012 Olympic Games that kick off on July 27, the BMW Group is trying to squeeze every ounce of publicity it can from the event, including the launch of special edition models. Today, it's Mini's turn to present a pair of bespoke editions, the Bayswater and Baker Street models, both of which are based on the three-door hatchback and will be offered worldwide this spring.
Starting with the Bayswater edition, it's named after an area of London and will be available as a Cooper, Cooper S, Cooper D and Cooper SD. On the outside, it gets an exclusive Kite Blue metallic finish with Midnight Black and Eclipse Grey being optional on the Cooper S and SD models.
The roof is finished in black, there are racing stripes on the bonnet and mirror caps, while it also rides on a unique to this model set of 17-inch wheels.
Inside, you'll find “Bayswater” lettering on the door sills and seat tags, while the seats are partially dressed in leather with exclusive colors and two-tone stitching that also appears on the gearshift/selector lever and handbrake gaiters. Other features include the Piano Black cockpit trim, stainless steel pedals and the standard Chrome Line Interior package.
Moving onto the second special edition Mini, the Baker Street model can be ordered in One, Cooper, One D and Cooper D guises.
It combines a Rooftop Grey metallic shade (or optionally Pepper White and Midnight Black) with special bonnet stripes, black mirror caps and 16-inch alloy rims.
The interior sports unique seating surfaces with a diamond pattern, light grey contrast stitching for the floor mats, gearshift/selector lever as well as the handbrake gaiters and seat tags, plus a Cross Check Rooftop Grey color for the dashboard and door trim.
